DMC joined in with other celebrities to "smash" in the grand opening of the Hard Rock Cafe at Faneuil Hall in Boston.
71 guitars donated by Gibson were smashed to commemorate the Hard Rock's first cafe opening in 1971 and kick off the grand opening of the new Boston location.
Others joining in the smashing-good time were blues musicianJames Montgomery, Boston guitarist Barry Goudreau, former New Kid Jordan Knight, Mayor Tom Menino, Noelle LeBlanc, Mike Woods, and the rest of the band Damone, auto magnate/rocker Ernie Boch Jr., and the guys from Blue Man Group.
To make up for breaking 71 defective guitars, Gibson and the Hard Rock donated 71 intact guitars to the Boston public schools through the non-profit Peace Games.
