I can't believe I am having this opportunity to write you. First let me thank you for that! My name is Tracy and this is about my husband of 13 years this June. His name is Daryl He went to his first Run DMC concert in 1987. He loved rap and had a connection with your group. Of course people that didn't know us thought I dated a black guy because his car was an 81 Cutlass, Custom painted- by him, Custom tinted-by him, Slammed to the ground and the System was to perfection, no rattles no noise! Pure bass and quality tweeters! He had 10's, 15's, and one 18 in. Kicker! Wonder why we are half deaf at 35 years old. And across the windshield in bold white letters it read, "RUN -N- LOW". All through school Daryl was called DMC or Daryl MAC Who knew the connection between Daryl and you would go from the 1980's until now. Over all these years we have always watched no matter what show Run DMC was performing on. We were devastated when we lost Jam Master Jay. Mr. Simmons has always been an inspiration to us and now you have ultimately done what no one could! No way would my husband have listened to anyone else... BUT YOU!!!
Because of your Documentary you gave him the courage and strength to know it was ok to find out the truth about who his biological father is. I found out in October 2004 that his mother had been keeping the fact that he belonged to her first husband a huge secret. I checked out the rumor by going to the town this man lived in and going to his business. When he walked outside to greet me I didn't need to ask any questions because he was my husband in twenty years. Talk about your stomach being in your throat! I couldn't believe my eyes nor shake the strong feeling I had to just hug him. Unbelievably surreal. For Twenty-Four hours I struggled with how to tell Daryl, but I realized God must of put me in his life to bring him the truth. It would have been different circumstances if Daryl's dad that raised him had actually tried to be a father to Daryl! It's like he said, "At least I know now I wasn't a bad child!" I would have had a much harder time telling him had they had a good relationship.
Well after a year and a half of his mother denying all of it, her first husband not knowing anything for sure other than what he was told all those years ago, has put the final toll on our marriage. He chose to take his mother's word for it and let her make a complete fool of me. Portraying me to be a trouble maker and saying words that hurt deeply! Well... finally.... your documentary!!! Thank you so much from the deepest part of my soul for having the courage yourself to share such a personal journey because of you, Daryl finally got the courage to ask for a DNA test, 99.994769597497% proof positive that this man is his biological father. You tend to not look like your mother's first husband by coincidence!
They have only just begun and I have wonderful feelings about the relationship they will build, they are so much alike! It just goes to prove you are who you are on the inside.
