Mason featuring DMC & Sam Sparro - "Corrected"

Mason featuring DMC - "Corrected"NOW AVAILABLE ON iTUNES!

Take one of the most influential Hip-Hop artists of all time; put him together with one of the best blue-eyed soul voices of recent times and blend with the talents of a cutting edge production duo.  The result...... "Corrected," a genre-bending, barn-storming record by Dutch dance floor wreckers "Mason."

With the help of one Darryl "DMC" McDaniels, half of the seminal Hip-Hop crew Run DMC and Sam Sparro, "Black and Gold" writer and all-round new talent on the block, Mason have created a perfect soundclash of old and new school.

After numerous underground releases on labels such as Great Stuff, Pickadoll, Animal Language and Data, "Corrected" is set to follow the success of "Exceeder," their last big crossover tune.

The unlikely collaboration came about by a chance meeting at a festival with a friend of the guys, the MC had just been performing "Walk This Way" with Aerosmith in front of a packed Hyde Park crowd when he was given a CD of some Mason tracks.  Impressed with the Dutchmen's beats it wasn't long before he was dropping some old school rhymes in true DMC style.  The result sounded great, with only one caveat; there was a gaping hole left as the New Yorker forgot to drop a chorus!

Cue Sam Sparro, fresh from a massive debut record for Island Records.  A long-time Mason and Run DMC fan, Sam used a fortuitous gap in his schedule to collaborate with the boys.  Sam did his thing, creating the infectious refrain in homage to the legendary MC on the chorus and iced the cake that was to become "Corrected."

The track itself is hard to define.  Like all good records, it can't be pigeon holed.  This is simply a damn fine, original sounding track.  "Corrected" has funk, dirt and hooks in equal measure, bouncing along with all the energy of an amphetamine-fueled rhinoceros.

Remixes have been provided courtesy of man of the moment Rica Starr, Ralvero, Alex Gopher, Disco Damage, J Lajik & Wickerman, Freaky Friday and Mason themselves.

Mason have been tucked away in Amsterdam writing an album as well as remixing (for Moby, Robyn, Hadouken and Rex the Dog among others) and releasing tracks on their steadily growing "Animal Language" imprint.  The album contains performances from the likes of Aqualung, another Hip-Hop legend, Kurtis Blow and ex-Moloko Chanteuse Roisin Murphy.
